Winter Retreat
In-person and Live on Zoom
RigDzin Dharma Foundation is excited to kick off our 2023 reopening with a winter retreat, Calling the Lama from Afar: Guru Yoga Teachings and Practice, led by our beloved Venerable Khenpo Tsultrim Tenzin!
To ensure a safe environment for the Lama and sangha, in-person attendance is limited to 20 participants on a first come, first serve basis. The empowerment and teachings also will be available live on ZOOM. Pre-registration, masks, and social distancing are required for in-person attendance. In addition to the weekend retreat, Khenpo will lead a Dharma discussion group and offer in-person interviews. Read below for more details. |
Retreat Schedule
Friday, February 3, 6:30 to 8:30 pm: The Samadhi Empowerment
The Samadhi Empowerment introduces us to the bodhicitta mind of all the buddhas. Connecting with bodhicitta, our body and mind can ripen into the buddhas’ three kayas. This ripening empowerment provides instructions on how to engage in practice. Then we can liberate ourselves by actually engaging in practice.
Saturday, February 4, 10:00 am to Noon; 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm: Calling the Lama from Afar: Guru Yoga Teachings and Practice
Each retreat session will begin with the Samadhi Empowerment practice, after which Khenpo will teach from Calling the Lama from Afar, a prayer contained within the “4-Session Guru Yoga of Lord Jigten Sumgon,” by Nuden Dorje, translated by Khenchen Konchog Gyaltsen. Each session will close with the Lama Chopa Prayer practice. In practicing Guru Yoga with devotion, we realize the Lama and the Buddha are inseparably connected and indistinguishable.
Sunday, February 5, 10:00 am to Noon; 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm: Calling the Lama from Afar: Guru Yoga Teachings, Practice, and Tsok
Sunday follows the same schedule as Saturday, with the exception of Sunday afternoon, when we close the retreat with a Lama Chopa tsok practice. We make food offerings during the tsok practice and imagine that the Buddhas come to accept our offerings and eat together with us. You may bring an offering of food or flowers, if you wish.
