Spring Amitabha Teaching & Practice
RigDzin Dharma Foundation is excited to announce our spring Amitabha retreat with Venerable Dorzin Dhondrup Rinpoche
April 12 and 13!
In the morning sessions, Dorzin Rinpoche will teach on Buddha Amitabha, and then lead the sangha in afternoon session practice: The Meditation and Recitation of Amitābha called Uniting with the Pure Land of Sukhāvati.
Amitabha, also known as the Buddha of Infinite Light, is revered for his boundless compassion and his Pure Land, Sukhāvati (Sanskrit), or Dewachen (Tibetan), where beings can be reborn and attain enlightenment. Amitabha practice is believed to benefit those who have died by guiding them to Sukhāvati, where they can continue their spiritual journey free from suffering. Through Amitabha practice, we can cultivate a connection with Amitabha’s enlightened qualities and generate the aspiration to attain rebirth in Sukhāvati, ensuring a peaceful transition at the time of death.
HE Garchen Rinpoche has said that practicing Amitabha helps to melt the ice block of self-grasping. Delusion will diminish, and we come to see our own innate awareness, which is no different from Buddha Amitabha and all the other Buddhas. Practicing Amitabha also can help to ward off obstacles to long life, and practicing on behalf of beings who are passing on supports their peaceful transition and a good rebirth.
His Holiness Chetsang Rinpoche said, “In all Mahayana countries this practice is very prevalent...because of the nature of the vows of Amitabha Buddha. ...Anyone can engage in the practice. You do not have to be a great exalted being who has abandoned all non-virtue. You do not have to be a superb practitioner... it is something that can work for anyone.”
